There are moments in life that quietly change everything.
Today was one of those moments.
Months ago, Living the Scene was just an idea. I wanted to preserve twenty years of Connecticut’s independent music community—the bands, the venues, the flyers, the friendships, and the stories that made it feel like home.
Then came the work.
Thousands of words.
Hundreds of photographs.
Flyers collected over two decades.
Countless edits.
Proofs.
Revisions.
Formatting.
Margin errors.
More revisions.
And dozens of those tiny, seemingly insignificant decisions that somehow take hours to make.
Every step brought the project a little closer to becoming a real book.
Today, it crossed that line.
I placed my very first author copy order.
That sentence still doesn’t feel real.
The first 30 copies of Living the Scene are now in production. What’s even more incredible is that every one of those copies is already spoken for. Before the book ever existed in print, people believed in this project enough to reserve one.
That’s something I don’t take lightly.
It’s strange to think that somewhere, right now, printers are producing pages that, until this morning, only existed as files on my computer.
In a couple of weeks, those books will arrive at my front door.
I’ll be able to pick one up.
Flip through it.
Read it.
Hold something that spent months living only in my imagination.
People often celebrate the day a book is released, and they should. That’s a huge milestone.
But today feels different.
Today was the moment when this project stopped being something I was working on and became something that physically exists in the world.
That’s a line you only get to cross once.
To everyone who has encouraged me, shared my posts, trusted me with your memories, contributed photographs, or reserved a copy before seeing the finished product…
Thank you.
This book has my name on the cover, but it tells the story of a community that has meant the world to me for the last twenty years. I hope, when you read it, you see a little piece of your own journey in its pages.
And just like that…
I’m no longer wondering if this book will exist.
I’m waiting for the delivery truck. 📚❤️
